On Thursday, September 22, 2010, Dr. Mary Ellen Caron, Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Family and Support Services was the keynote speaker at the REST's Annual Fundraising Dinner celebrating our 31 years of homeless services. Dr. Caron noted how vital REST's services are to the community, especially in challenging times.
140 REST supporters gathered at Marcello's Restaurant, 645 North Avenue in Chicago. All enjoyed good food, music, a raffle and a silent auction with prizes worth thousands of dollars.
This year’s goal was realized, raising over $20,000 to help with the agency's operating expenses, and raised additional funds to replace shelter beds. The event Chairs were Ryan Piech and Stephanie Maresh.
REST Board President, Mike O'Hara, served as the Master of Ceremonies. Live dinner music was provided by Edgewater classical guitarist, Jennifer Trowbridge. REST also honored volunteers, collaborating agencies and board members with six awards for service. The Program booklet contained listings of Event Sponsors, Raffle & Silent Auction donors, and ads with warm wishes from many friends of REST.
